Recovering From One Broken Bone

How do you feel when you hear from a friend or family member that they broke a bone and were treated with medical marijuana? Would you be as forgiving? One Broken Bone? You May Be in grave danger for another!

As we age, bones begin to wear down. This happens to both our adults and children. bones begin to lose their elasticity and become more fragile. Bones also become brittle and break easily. One broken bone is not even a scratch compared to a broken bone in someone who has arthritis. So, if you have broken a bone, do not take it lightly.

Even doctors do not realize how many people suffer from this disease. Many people just think that they are going through the normal process of growing older. But, as you age your bones together with your joints weaken.

Joints between bones become worn out and brittle. One way to help prevent this from happening is by taking some steps to protect them. If you smoke, stop. Smoking depletes the healthy nutrients that the body needs. It may seem easy, but it may mean the difference between life and death.

If you have arthritis, do not sit on your couch and let the kids roll you. Sitting and standing on a hard surface could increase the risk of joint problems. It may sound silly, but it is absolutely true.

If you are taking medication for joint pain, check with your doctor to find out if your dosage may be too high. Some over-the-counter medications, such as acetaminophen (Tylenol) and aspirin, can actually increase the pain associated with joint problems. Make sure that you tell your doctor if you take any prescription drugs, such as steroids. These drugs can affect the joints in ways that you don’t understand.

Exercise will help strengthen your joints and will relieve some of your joint pain. Swimming is good for your joints. The water will help build your synovial fluid, which is a cushioning substance that allows joints to move easily. Even walking around a field at your children’s soccer practice will help build your endurance and flexibility.

One important factor is that when you get a break, don’t rush back to the gym or your activity level. Take time to recover. With proper rest and care, your bones will heal and stay healthy. As long as you follow these tips, you will stay away from a nasty bone break.

Don’t jump right back into strenuous physical activities. If you are already out of shape, start slow if you are going to start training right away. Start with walking, jogging, or gentle hikes around your neighborhood. Jogging is an excellent way to build strength and endurance, especially if you have been out of shape for a while and want to improve your bone density.

If you are a runner, you can increase your chances of avoiding a bone break by wearing your proper protective gear. For example, if you are going to be running on a trail, wear trail running shoes with a full sole. This gives the impression that you are walking on the ground, which is what you are trying to do. This also helps absorb shock, since you are moving at a faster pace. The shock absorption reduces the possibility of injury.

If you are a runner, take a look at your feet. If they are swollen and bruised, you have a bone bruise. This happens because your body did not absorb the shock of the impact. It is usually caused by too much walking or running and sitting down too long.

If you have bone loss due to injury, you might lose bone density as well. This makes it harder for you to move or perform everyday tasks. So before surgery, make sure you have had a health evaluation and that there is no other bone loss in your family history. Having some bone loss beforehand reduces the chances of complications after surgery. Talk to your orthodontist about any treatments you can use to correct the problems that are causing you to lose your bone density.

It is very easy to suffer from one broken bone, but remember that a broken bone doesn’t have to mean the end of your life. If you take precautions and get checked out early, then there is a good chance for a full recovery. By taking care of yourself, you will be able to prevent further bone damage and loss.
